Trestleboard ASHLER LODGE February 2010
Greetings from the East,
What a great year so far! We passed Bro. Thomas Ryan to Fellow Craft and Bro. Daniel Southerland joins us as our newest EA. We have another EA scheduled for January 28th and several ‘prospects’ that have expressed interest in the fraternity. Currently our 5 EA’s are working hard on their proficiencies so we should expect to have more FC degrees very soon.
The Annual Chili feed and GM visit was a resounding success. Congratulations to Bro. Jack Houston for taking this year’s 1st place award. WB Fred Wagner, of Blalock, provided live music for our evening. Bro. Jared McLaughlin was installed as our Junior Steward by RWB G. Santy Lascano. Yancey C. Blalock lodge delivered the district Traveling Gavel. The Audit committee made their formal annual report and I’m please to pass on that all is well with the lodge finances. Of the 7 brothers receiving service pins this month, Bro. George Paris was able to be present and receive his 55 year pin from the Grand Master. I am saddened to report that we had a memorial for Bro. Henry Radtke who joined the Supreme Architect of the Universe in December. The Wardens, Secretary and I were able to present a widow’s pin to his wife during the Eastern Star memorial ceremony. Both have been very active for many years in the Eastern Star group that meets at Ashler Lodge. In his remarks, the GM reminded us of the importance of the youth and that each of us was first prepared to be made a Mason in our hearts.
Our Masonic journey grows through active participation in the craft and I trust you are all enjoying the lodge activities that have already occurred and are looking forward to the rest of this Masonic year. Your Lodge and your Masonic growth are dependent on your active participation in Masonry. I encourage everyone to engage in our Lodge’s future.
During February’s meeting will be we will be reviewing the budget, formalizing our summer events, and formally welcoming the District Deputy of the Grand Master in District 2, V.W.B. Ray Lavadia and enjoying the Masonic wisdom he imparts to us.
The first quarterly street clean-up for 2010 is scheduled for Saturday, February 20th. Breakfast is at Steve’s and then we re-group behind the lodge to grab our gear and head off to 104th. This event happens rain or shine.
The 2010 district calendars are available. They are $5 each with the money going to the District 2 Youth Travel fund. The Grand Master’s Official Visit to District 2 will be held March 26th at Edmonds Masonic Center starting at 5:30 pm. Tickets are $15, dress is suits, and ladies are always welcome. See me for tickets. Finally, the traveling gavel has arrived so it is time to go visiting and keep the gavel moving. See the calendar for details.
This month’s focus on youth is T.H. Little DeMolay Chapter. These young men need your active support so get out there and show them that Ashler cares. Their meeting schedule is on the calendar. The theme for this month’s meeting is engagement. What does that really mean?
Fraternally,
Richard Beers, Worshipful Master

Greetings from the West,
Thank you to everyone who came to welcome our Most Worshipful Grand Master, MWB Gale H. Kenney, at our January stated communication and annual chili cook-off. Wages are due to the entire team for conducting a very full meeting with poise, confidence, and skill. We installed our last officer, held a memorial, balloted successfully for a new candidate for the Degrees of Masonry, reported on the results of the Financial Audit Committee for both the Temple Board and the Lodge (reconciled, full, and favorable), and introduced and accommodated a full lodge of visitors including the GM. I am proud of this Lodge and the commitment demonstrated by each and every brother to the Craft and to each other. I look forward to seeing you in Lodge and joining us as we gear up to set the teams for the upcoming landmark community events and functions we have the privilege of supporting in the Bothell community.
Fraternally,
Chris Haynes, Senior Warden

We have been very busy initiating and passing Brethren. You are cordially invited to attend any degree conferral, or brush up on your floor work and ask for a part in the degree team. We'll list all upcoming degrees on the website and Facebook page and mail out invitations as we can.
